Woodworking Shop Space Available to Share

Professional shop space available for part-time woodworker, hobbyist, or artist/sculptor in need of woodworking equipment and/or welding equipment.

I am the woodworking instructor at the Chicago Waldorf School and I have a large, fully equipped shop in Garfield Park. I welcomed a baby girl to my family year and a half ago – and between mothering and teaching – have been using my shop on a part-time basis. I’m looking for someone to share my space. We have 5000 sq/ft. first floor shop w/ loading dock and a wall of southern exposure windows. Our machine tools include: a sliding table saw, cabinet table saw with biesemeyer fence and outfeed table, two large band saws capable of re-sawing, router w/ table, veneer press with a 5’x10′ table, lathe, horizontal mortising machine, 15″ planer, 8″ jointer, edge sander, drill presses, dust collectors and spray booth. My enclosed bench room is approximately 400 sq.ft. with west windows and a dust filtration unit. This bench room has an available bench with vise for you to use. Looking for someone who works or wants to work primarily with hand tools…to share my bench room. You will have access to all the machine tools.

Rent a Room/Open Your Home to New CWS Family

New Waldorf family from Hyde Park, without a car, wishes to rent a room four nights per week to avoid long public transportation commute to school.

Ideal situation: Mom (Dana) and new CWS 1st-grader daughter (Zoe) would rent a room or a small section of a large home that is within walking distance to the school and the Loyola Redline stop–from Sunday night through Wednesday night during the school year. We’re hoping for an idiosyncratic connection with a like-minded family or retired couple who might be sympathetic to our problem. We can pay $100 per week, but we are also open to providing quirky labor in exchange for a room. E.g., Dana is a CPA with extensive public and private accounting experience, and also a nanny. She would be willing to help with any financial or household management needs, and/or nanny children. We are neat, tidy, and petite. We live lightly, and Zoe’s a sweet kid.

Please contact Dana at (773) 324-4097 or d.m.russo@hotmail with any questions, offers, tips, etc. We don’t know much about Rogers Park, and we really want to make this work. Waldorf education is the only school-based education that appeals to us.
